Branding In Hip-Hop
I have created this blog as a way to show the relationship between branding and hip-hop. Branding is more than just a name and logo. A brand has a culture and a background. They symbolize an idea. Rappers, using heavy metaphors, use brands as a way to creatively express their ideas and overall messages.
I've been obsessed with hip-hop since I was 6. Figured I would create something related to it while utilizing my media/advertising background. So enjoy the product placement!

Childish Gambino is very proud of his open-mindedness when it comes to the women he likes. It doesn’t matter what color they are. Open about his Asian girlfriend, he also shares that he loves white women and black women. And when his music plays, all these women start to move and dance to this rhythmic tunes. White girls move like there is coke that needs to be stashed up the “you know what”, hence why many times “white girl” also means one that moves cocaine. And black girls also move to his songs too because, again it doesn’t matter the race. They will all love his music the way he loves the women. He loves pussy and bitches, the same way PETA loves “pussy” cats and female dogs aka “bitches.” It only makes sense that he works for them.
PETA does a very good job in bringing animal issues on notice. Hearing PETA is involved usually means that animals should be safe. I’m sure they love the fact that Childish Gambino is supporting their cause. The name drop in Bonfire is quite positive, unlike other rappers that wish us to tell PETA “furs are dragging on the floor.”

Childish Gambino is Donald Glover, who plays Troy Barnes on NBC’s “Community.” Last year, he gained critical acclaim and a strong following of fans through his hip-hop career. He also has stand-up comedy experience and wrote for the Daily Show. He has quite the career in various media outlets. Not bad for a guy in his twenties. It is the type of life that one probably cannot imagine as a child. Ten years ago, Childish Gambino could have never imagined himself on Hulu acting on a prominent show with established actors that are relevant in search engines. When it comes to being sucessful, he is frugal with time and knows it will all work out and he will aquire the bank account that will get all the “dimes”, no question.
Hulu has been a growing medium for TV and movies. Internet TV may even become the exclusive outlet for TV. So being a part of this growing industry can only be so sweet for Mr. Glover.
